Naked Eye Photography by Owen Law

This is the first time I have posted a YouTube clip on my blog but I was just blown away by it and thought I would share. This is a stop animation short that was made up of many, many , MANY individual shots. I can't imagine how long this must have taken to not only shoot but to compose and put together for everyone to enjoy. It was originally posted on YouTube on January 19 and has already been viewed over a million times. Normally stop animation is done with non-human subjects - think Wallace and Gromitt but to attempt to do something like this with live subjects is just mind numbing.

4 Years Away From 18

I can't believe my oldest son just turned 14:( Well, not just, but not to long ago. It took me a week just to come to terms with the fact that he's not my baby anymore. I'm not ready for them all to grow up. I know they are and will continue to do so but just a few more years. . .please. Here are some shots of Blake enjoying some of Grandma's famous Bday cake. Slow down boy and stop being in such a hurry to grow up. What's next - driving lessons. . .YIKES!!

Dayton - Naked Eye Photography by Owen Law

Meet Dayton, the cutest 7 month old boy I know. He loves his Mommy and Daddy just about as much as all the great toys Santa left for him this year. Dayton was kind enough to show me his favorite, but that's our little secret. I had an awesome time meeting Dayton's parents and grandparents and can't wait till the next time I get to take some more pictures of such a natural child superstar - hopefully it will be a little warmer outside. See if you can tell what he is watching on TV in the first image by the reflection in his face. It was hard to tell who likes TV more - him or Dad!

Brothers at Play

Ace and Jack love their Mommy, can't you tell? I love dogs, especially lap dogs and without further adieu I would like to introduce to you a couple of the biggest "lap dogs" you will ever meet. They are both just so lovable, well putting aside the fact that one of them - not mentioning any names (the black one) - tried to eat my favorite lens during the shoot. Ya, I guess a 70 - 200 sorta looks like a big black stick, well in a dogs mind perhaps. It was a nice break during this crazy cold spell we have been weathering - that's punny - to spend the afternoon chasing after a couple of the friendliest dogs I know.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and if you happen to be one of the brave souls that dares to venture out to do some shopping on Boxing Day, I only have one piece of advice for you - SMILE :)

Hayden's First Christmas - Naked Eye Photography by Owen Law

Meet Hayden, a super cool kid that just goes with the flow no matter where he is - more on that later. I love kids, especially babies, and every time I have the opportunity to do a portrait session with them it makes me almost want another one. Then I come to my senses - I think four is plenty - thank you very much. Still, you can't help but just go goo goo over them, especially when they are as cute as Hayden. Jenilee and Tyler just love the little guy to bits - the twinkle in their eyes is a dead give away. So a little explanation is in order about the first line of the post. Anyone that has kids or has ever been around a baby for any period of time knows that when they gotta go, they gotta go. Well, Mr. "go with the flow" Hayden didn't disappoint and it happened while I was shooting. Hayden was just chillin' on the couch, kicking back, getting some pics done for his portfolio and out of nowhere, like a bolt of lighting, he lets it rip. It was hilarious, and if you get a chance to see the picture, I swear you can see a hint of a smile on his face. He was probably thinking - enough pictures already - if you don't stop it right now I'll do something that will stop the show dead in its tracks. Oh well, no harm, but it sure makes for a great story. I didn't post the image here, but you never know where it may pop up, like say, his wedding day on a slideshow in front of all his friends and family. I guess Mom will have that one over him for quite a while.

Thank you so much Shelly (Grandma) for inviting me into your home and giving me the oppurtunity to shoot such an awesome little guy.
