Rene & Lisa - Engaged!

Well, I guess it is here to stay now and there isn't anything we can do about it. Just as well I guess - I mean what's Christmas without snow (keep telling yourself that and it might just help). We didn't have as much snow this past weekend but it was still very chilly, especially at 8:30 in the morning out in the middle of a rugby field . . . BRRRR! Now if you ask anyone that knows me, they will tell you how I'm not so much about the whole winter thing. When I was a kid, I was always mad at my parents for picking somewhere like Northern Alberta to set up shop - I mean of all the warmer places in the world they could have picked. Alas, I am older and hopefully wiser now and have realized how lucky I am that they did indeed pick this deep freeze of a city called Edmonton for us to live. I have now found a new appreciation for winter and how beautiful it can be through the lens of a camera, so bring on the thick coats, scarves, and my favorite hat of all - the toque!

Speaking of lucky, I have been fortunate enough to introduce you to Rene and Lisa. I had the privilege of shooting their engagement photos for their upcoming wedding in March, 2009. I tease about the cold and all, but truth be told, they were so much fun to be around I didn't even notice how cold it really was. They were super troopers and didn't complain at all about the weather and we only had to warm up in the car once, mid shoot. Rene plays rugby for the Druids, so we started our morning at the field his club calls home , after breaky and a coffee at Micky D's, that is. After we froze our - insert body part - off, we headed over to Whyte Ave where it was much warmer and out of the wind. I love walking through the Whyte Ave area shooting couples - there are so many cool hidden gem locations, especially on the weekend when all the crowds show up for some crazy street shopping. Our session ended at the Cargo & James Tea shop where Rene and Lisa had their first date . . . awww! I am such a sucker for romance.

Thanks again Rene and Lisa for a great morning and I am so looking forward to your big day in March.

These pictures look great! It's cool to get a new perspective on some of these places. I didn't know there were such cool photo spots at the rugby club. Go Big Dog!

These photos are great, and even though their stills, you can see their personalities. Great shots!

(Too bad there wasn't a close up of the rock for us nosey co-workers of Rene's! ;)
